Students
will venture to a digital processing kiosk and learn the basics of
making photographs from a kiosk Wen will help students alter color on
their digital files, convert to b/w or sepia. Students will select
3 of their best photographs prints from the kiosk and make a 4x6 color,
5x7 sepia, and 8x10 b/w photograph of the images. Students will then
make a photo card (with 4x6), frame & mat 5x7, mat 8x10 photographs.
Fees
include all materials. Students should bring their flash memory
cards for printing.
Participants should wear sunscreen and hats, as we'll be
photographing outside

Introduction
To Color FILM Photography &
Location Shoot
Film
camera participants will learn to properly load film into their cameras
and will use their 35mm film cameras (older manual cameras are the
best with detachable lens) with color film to experience the basics of
photography and exposure. All students will learn more about shutter
speeds and f-stops will be and participants will record their settings
when photographing. Basic camera operation and settings will be covered.
Students will be given an assignment in color theory and photograph with
their cameras. Film will be collected for overnight processing and
available at the next morning class.
A
limited number of 35mm cameras are available for rent at $25, if needed.
Fees
include all materials (film for film camera users).
Participants should wear sunscreen and hats, as we'll be
photographing outside (water bottles provided).

opportunity for students to learn more about their digital cameras.
Topics include auto, manual, and other camera setting options.
Manual and auto focus will also discussed. Students will photograph
on location with their cameras and document their f-stop and shutter
speed settings.

card, (and manual).

B/W Darkroom Making Photos
Each
student will choose at least one photograph and make a 5x7 enlargement.
Dodging and burning print enhancements will be demonstrated and students
will apply the techniques to their photographs. The developing
process and chemicals of black and white photographs will be demonstrated
and students will apply the techniques to their enlargement prints.

Matting & Framing Your Photographs
A
grand opportunity to learn more about choosing the right mat and frame to
display your photograph. Students will dry mount the enlargement onto
a mat board using a hot dry mount press. Wen will discuss the
proper framing of photographs. Students will be encouraged to enter
photographs into the Archuleta County Fair.

basics. You'll not only have a keen understanding of f-stop
characteristics, but also discover the best f-stop decisions for the
image you photograph. Learn the best "resolution" settings to
capture your photographs.
